Waterstones

I've decided Waterstones is one of my favourite places!!!

Many book shops have closed down due to internet shopping / kindles etc which is so sad! I order my books online when i have to for convenience but actually going to a book shop is so much fun.

There is a big Waterstones near us and we went there the other day.  Granted we went in for specific items the feel of a book shop is lovely! There were children sat in the childrens corner reading books and playing and mums browsing the shelves for anything from cookbooks to how to get your toddler to sleep to 50 shades of grey.

I love giving books for presents - for young and old - they are the present thats last long after the book has been read!

Some great bookshops have little coffee shops in them which is just heaven!

I am planning to go to Waterstones one Sunday when my hubby will have the children just to escape the world and be in this magical bubble! Thousands of books filled with secrets and history and love and magic - the world is literally your oyster.

I really wanted The Great Gatsby (i loved the film but i want to read it).  They had one by the till and i asked "do you have any other covers?" hahaha writing that down makes me feel a little crazy! I mean a books a book isn't it?? NO it isn't he showed me to a plethora of different covers! Of course i went for the Tiffany designed one and it is now in pride of place on my bedside table!

They also do some fabulous little gifts and stationary!

They had some pads called Knock Knock

I've found a selection at Utility Design - some of them are really useful others hilarious!!!

The other books i found were called Listography Journals - they do Film, Music, Friends.  My favourite is My Future Listography

This is a fabulous book to plan and keep all your future dreams!

They also have the most amazing Childrens books - books you don't know about - books you didn't think about - books you didn't know you needed!

I'm going to plan to take Honey to a bookshop for a mummy honey date every few months - just us two.  I want her to love the magic of books like i do.

So todays something cool in a nut shell is book shops!!! A free place to escape avec enfants!!! And a fabulous place to buy fabulous books that last a lifetime!!

Happy Reading

Birthday Number 4

Well its the big number 4 for Sienna and Honey in a few short months! Crazy to think where the last 4 yrs have gone but i guess we will still be saying that when they are 30 ha!

So we need to start thinking about presents!

We have ordered the girls one of these bikes each already.

Specialized Hot Rock 16" RRP £170

We got a good deal via a bike shop local to Jade and given that it was a bit pricey we wont be buying them much else just a few bits and bobs but family have been asking so heres some other present suggestions for girls and boys we hope will help if your stuck for ideas!

These look really fun and a good way to help your little one start spelling!

Sienna would love this! She loves the step by step process of baking and cooking so i think she would really enjoy this too!

Convertible Book - Pirate Ship £14.99
These look so much fun!! They do a girly one and a fire truck one too! Best thing is they fold back away into a book so they don't take up loads of room all the time!

Sienna has been doing a bit of sewing at preschool and really enjoying it so i think she would really like these.

This looks lots of fun! You can take it apart and build it lots of different ways and watch the marbles go down. Good for encouraging problem solving too!

Big Jigs Game Compendium £21
This little set of classic games is lovely and all packs away into one neat box, bonus!

Sienna is jewellery crazy! She has stolen half of mine and her own cousins (sorry Abbie) so she would think this was the best present ever! They do a huge range for kids and they are so sweet and a fab price!

This looks like fun and a good activity you could take on long journeys too! Its a good way to help they understand how shapes can make pictures.

Now that i have started looking theres actually loads of ideas! Orchard puzzles are great games for kids and i will be getting Sienna lots more arts and crafts stuff as thats her fave thing to do at the moment!

Hope this has helped anyone struggling for ideas!

Perfect Childrens Books

Last year i was round my friend Lauren's house, and she knows i love meaningful books etc and she said "have you heard of Nancy Tillman?"

Well no i hadn't but i LOVE her now!!!

I love buying things for my children for them to keep forever! I have cards, books, letters etc from my mum and i love reading them now.  You simply can't replace those kind of memories and i will have them forever and pass them down to Honey!

So after reading Caius's Nancy Tillman books i was straight on Amazon and hey presto they arrived the next day!! I put both books in Honey and Rocco's Christmas Stockings!

This book is such a lovely present to buy your children or for any new mum.  The words on the first page are simply perfect:

"On the night you were born, the moon smiled with such wonder that the stars peeked in to see you and the night wind whispered, "Life will never be the same." Because there had never been anyone like you ..... ever in the world"

Such beautiful words! I love reading this story to Honey!

On the Night you were born

The second book is amazing for your child at any age! If my mum gave me this book now i would cry cry cry! Its so magical!

Heres a little peek

"So hold your head high and don't be afraid to march to the front of your own parade.
If you're still my small babe or you're all the way grown, my promise to you is you're never alone"

Wherever you are my love with find you
by Nancy Tillman

Whilst writing this blog i've just found another Nancy Tillman gem!!!!

Wow i love this one!! This is going on order for my children's birthday! Here is  a snippet from it:

"There are things about you quite unlike any other…
things always known by your father or mother. So if you decide to be different one day,no worries…I'd know you anyway."

I'd know you anywhere, My Love

I really hope you and your children love these books as much as we do!

be sure to write a little message in the front for your children to read back in years to come

Thank you Lolly xxx
