Measurement Memories

So i'm pretty sure most mums like to measure their little people's height!

I remember being a little girl and my Grandma measuring all the grandchildren against the kitchen doorframe.

I'm not sure where this tradition came from but its a really sweet and something most families do!

There's only one real downside, what happens when you move house? You can't take it with you and that makes me a little bit sad!

I'm crazy in love with this wooden ruler height measure, its literally everything and you can take it with you if you move!! Amazing! Only downside is its £140!! ouch. You can find it here on notonthehighstreet.com

So if that is a little out of your price range i came across another cool idea for a fraction of the price!

All you will need is a tape measure and a can of white spray paint (or another colour if you prefer)

Spray paint the whole measure of tape white so your left with a blank measure. Then you are free to write on the tape every time you measure your little ones up against the tape!

I think this is really cute and so nice to put in their memory boxes as you can do one for each child.

I would love to be able to pull one out of my own measurements to be able to measure against my little people and compare how tall i was to them at their age.

I think its a super cheap priceless keepsake!

Let us know if you have cool ways to record your little people height we love to hear your ideas!

Bonfire night fun

Yay its officially Bonfire night here in the UK!

We have bonfire night to commemorate the day Guy Fawkes was arrested for plotting to blow up the House of Lords in 1605.

Fast forward to 2013 and  it now means we have bonfires and fireworks and yummy treats and all that jazz!

So i thought i would share some fun bonfire night treats and activities you can do with your little people!

These fireworks are made from cardboard tubes and bits of paper, pipe cleaners and tissue paper. Anything you have in your craft box! Fun craft activity.

These yummy firework biscuits look super fun, and if I'm honest look like my children's standard decorating of biscuits haha recipe here

Edible Sparklers these look fab we will deffo be making some! Tutorial here

These should keep your toddler out of mischief for at least 5 mins.

I hope you all have a fun and safe bonfire night! Wrap up warm its super cold!!

Banoffee Pie (my fave)!

Wow i do so love a Banoffee Pie - i would say its my favourite dessert but i think all desserts are my favourite haha!!!

This is an amazing dessert on 3 counts!!

Firstly its so quick to make you can make it within 15 mins and take to bar b q or event!
Secondly its so easy and no baking or boiling so even toddlers can make it
Thirdly it tastes and looks amazing!!!

Ingredients

4 Bananas
300ml Whipped Cream
250g pack of Digestives
1 or 2 cans of Carnation Caramel
100g melted butter
Chocolate to decorate

Firstly crush the biscuits into crumbs - I normally put mine in a ziplock bag and get honey to hit and roll them with a rolling pin! Place the crumbs into a bow and add the melted butter to the biscuits.  Once mixed press onto bottom of a lightly greased 20cm cake tin.  Pop in fridge for 10 mins.

During this 10 mins (which is an eternity for an impatient 3 year old) i get Honey to cut the banana with her special plastic knife!

Take the base out of the fridge and spread the carnation caramel over the base - ive said 1 or 2 cans depending on how caramelly (i know thats not even a word but i like it) you like it! I would then place this in the fridge to harden up!

Then place you banana slices on top of the caramel - try not to leave many gaps.

Spoon the cream on top and then grate some chocolate on top!

Taaaaa Daaaaa !!!! Fool Proof quick and easy dessert!!!

You can also use condensed milk and boil it however with toddlers in the house and a previous burn incident i just try not to over complicate things! It does seem to set better though!  Also you could make these into little ones in fairy cake wrappers and make them in a 6 cake tin for the children!

Hope you all enjoy
Love
